Velvet Underground auction: "Final bid was fake"

Rarity sale scuppered

The seller of the rare record has revealed that the final bid by a person known only as mechadaddy for £79,154 ($155, 401) has turned out to be fake.

The seller of the rare acetate, Warren Hill, has said that the sale didn't work out as planned.

Speaking to CBC, Hill explained: “It seems to have gone badly at the end... I just don’t really feel like talking about it.”

Hill added that despite the setback he was “still interested in selling the acetate.”

As previously reported the vinyl contains the only definitive version of 'The Velvet Underground & Nico' album.
