The Scots popsters kick off 2007 in style

Scot popsters The View marked the start of 2007 by performing their first two US shows at New York’s Mercury Lounge on consecutive nights(January 2/3).

The Dundee quartet, who are set to release their debut album ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ on January 22 in the UK, played energetic sets to sold out crowds both nights - the second of which contained fellow Scot and Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos.

Speaking to NME.COM after completing the stint, Kyle Falconer revealed that the band had made the most of their first days in the Big Apple.

“I think the first gig was the better one because we were still a bit fucked for the second one,” explained the singer. “After the first night, we were out on the piss until seven in the morning which was a great laugh but we had to do photoshoots the next day which was terrible. It was like we were sleepwalking or something. Our tour manager had to wake us up 20 minutes before going on stage tonight!”

The setlist for both nights was:

‘Coming Down’
‘Screaming And Shouting’
‘Dance Into The Night’
‘Wasted Little DJs’
‘The Don’
‘Skag Trendy’
‘Wasteland’
‘Posh Boys’
‘Same Jeans’
‘Superstar Tradesman’

The View complete their first American tour with three more dates after which they return to the UK to appear on NME ShockWaves Indie Rock Tour 2007.

The US dates are at:

San Francisco, CA Popscene (Jan 4)
Los Angeles, CA Viper Rooms (5)
Los Angeles, CA Silverlake Spaceland (6)
