The View singer fined for drugs possession
Kyle Falconer has to cough up £1,000
The View's frontman Kyle Falconer has been fined £1,000 for cocaine possession today (March 2).
The 19-year-old admitted the charge at Dundee Sheriff Court after he was arrested outside the city's Student Union.
His conviction will make it "next to impossible" for the group to tour America, according to his solicitor.
The court heard that the singer was arrested after the band performed at a concert at the venue in August 2006.
admitted to police officers that he was in possession of cocaine but his defence lawyer Billy Boyle told the court he had been handed the drug by music industry insiders and he did not take the substance.
He called for an absolute discharge because a conviction would make it difficult for the singer to get a visa to tour America, though the band are currently in the process of organising another tour there.
