The View hunt for support band

They launched an urgent search

The View have launched an urgent search to find a new unsigned band to support them at a gig they are playing in Norwich tonight (April 20).

The decision took place after The Horrors dropped out earlier today. The deadline for entries was 4pm this afternoon.

The group had requested that bands who were interested should drop off their demos tapes at their tour bus at the University Of East Anglia.

Guitarist Pete Reilly said: “We thought it would be a good idea to give them a chance.”

The idea came about because The View's big break came when they handed a demo to Babyshambles Pete Doherty.

Reilly said: “Because we knocked on Doherty’s tour bus, and he gave us a chance, it’s kind of returning the favour.”

Their manager Grant Dickson said: “The standard so far is really high. We are quite amazingly surprised at how many good bands are around. It’s proving to be quite difficult to narrow it down, but we’ve got a ‘yes’ pile building up and so far I think we have about five or six.”

It has not yet been announced who the winning band is, reports BBC News
