The View drummer Steven Morrison has been fined £900 for assault.

The sticksman was found guilty of assault after punching a man, Craig Cairnie, outside the Fat Sam's nightclub in his hometown Dundee on October 25.

Sheriff Elizabeth Munro handed him the fine yesterday (March 30) at Dundee Sheriff Court, reports the Daily Record. She said the drummer had a "nasty streak" and said that the fact that he'd been drinking was no excuse for his behaviour.

Morrison said: "I'm stupid and I'm in no way happy with what I've done. This is what you get if you behave badly. I hope this doesn't reflect badly in any way with fans of The View."
