The Walkmen have told NME they were advised to boycott the UK for good - but still plan to tour here next month.

The band, who released their new album 'Lisbon' in the US this week (September 14) but are not putting it out in Britain until October 11, explained in a video interview you can watch on the right that they were warned off the country.

"Our [live] agent we just signed with said we should never come over here because we'll never do well over here, in all honesty. He said he didn't want to put our record out over here because of that," explained frontman Hamilton Leithauser.

Fortunately for British fans the band ignored that advice. They opened last month's Reading And Leeds Festivals, and have signed up to tour the UK with labelmates The Black Keys next month - and it turns out the groups share an unusual connection.

"I was just at my wife's grandmother's 90th birthday… and her uncle was there. We started talking and apparently the singer from The Black Keys just brought his house in Nashville from him and he had to move out," explained Leithauser, before joking: "Apparently there was this awful scene, so I'm looking forward to talking to him about it."
