OZ FEST FOR WHITE STRIPES

The two-piece Detroit blues rockers get ready to enjoy the sunshine...

White Stripes and KOSHEEN have been added to the bill of the BIG DAY OUT FESTIVAL in AUSTRALIA.

Next year's event is confirmed to take place from the end of January in Auckland (January 18), the Gold Coast (20), Sydney (26), Melbourne (28), Adelaide (February 1) and Perth (3).

Both groups are confirmed to appear at all the cities on the tour, while other bands confirmed for some of the shows include Peaches, Audio Active and The Tea Party.

Other bands already confirmed to appear at the event include Garbage, Prodigy, New Order and System Of A Down.

Festival organisers have announced major changes to the way the event is run following the death of a teenager last year, including the introduction of a "recommended minimum age" of 15 to enter the show.

Other improvements include more security in the crowd and a free "Big Day Out pack" which will contain a refillable bottle of water, programme and safety information.
