THE WHITE STRIPES roadshow rolled into the Midlands with another spectacular show at NOTTINGHAM ICE ARENA last night (January 23).

Following on from their massively successful London and Liverpool shows earlier in the week, the Detroit duo were in fine form and surprised a few punters with their choice of set.

The band decided to perform the bulk of their most well known songs such as ‘Hotel Yorba’, ‘The Hardest Button To Button’ and ‘Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground’ during the first half and filled much of the second half with older material. This included a rare outing of ‘Sugar Never Tasted So Sweet’ and ‘Do’ from their self-titled debut and four songs from second album ‘De Stijl’.

Once again, Jack White made no mention of the recent drama in Detroit during his brief dialogues with the crowd choosing instead to have a brief solo bash on the drums just before the start of the encore.

The set was:

‘When I Hear My Name’
‘Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground'
’Black Math’
’Jolene’
’Ball And Biscuit’
’The Hardest Button To Button’
’In The Cold, Cold Night’
’Hotel Yorba’
’I’m Finding It Harder To Be A Gentleman’
’Do’
’Apple Blossom’
’Death Letter’
’This Protector’
’We’re Going To Be Friends’
’Offend In Everyway’
’Jack The Ripper’

’Fell In Love With A Girl’
’You’re Pretty Good Looking (For A Girl)’
’Sugar Never Tasted So Sweet’
’I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself’
’Seven Nation Army’

The tour continues tonight in Glasgow.
