White Stripes top UK album chart

The White Stripes

But Rihanna remains number one on single

The White Stripes have gone straight to the top of the UK album chart today (June 24) with sixth album 'Icky Thump'.

The duo have seen off veterans the whose 'Collection' was at the summit last week.

However, there is no change at the top of the single chart. Rihanna remains there for a sixth week with 'Umbrella'. She had stiff competition this week from Lee Mead, the winner of TV show Any Dream Will Do. His version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber song rises to number two.

There is little other movement on the top 10 but Editors, who performed yesterday at Glastonbury, rise to number seven with 'Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors'.

Back on the album chart, Enrique Iglesias enters at three with 'Insomniac', while Calvin Harris slides in at eight with 'I Created Disco'.

The UK top 10 singles are:

1. Rihanna ft Jay-Z - 'Umbrella'
2. Lee Mead - 'Any Dream Will Do'
3. Enrique Iglesias - 'Do You Know'
4. Calvin Harris - 'The Girls'
5. Kelly Rowland Ft Eve - 'Like This'
6. White Stripes - 'Icky Thump'
7. Editors - 'Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors'
8. Beyonce & Shakira - 'Beautiful Liar'
9. Gym Class Heroes - 'Cupid's Chokehold'
10. Kelly Clarkson - 'Never Again'
