Meg White makes surprise appearance with Raconteurs

Meg White made a surprise appearance on stage in Detroit on Saturday night (June 7), as The Raconteurs played a show at the Fillmore in their hometown.

The White Stripes drummer showed up onstage and “tapped on a few of the drums”, while Jack White said "Hey everybody, this is Meg White!”

But that was apparently the extent of the brief appearance, as White then waved and left the stage as the other Raconteurs returned for their encore, reports Billboard.

The Raconteurs have been on tour since April 20 supporting their new album ‘Consolers Of the Lonely’, and the outing will wrap up June 13 at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee.

They recently announced a new batch of dates kicking off in September. The dates are:

Portland, Oregon Roseland Theater (September 16, 17)
Vancouver, BC Malkin Bowl (Stanley Park) (18)
Seattle, WA WaMu Theater (19)
San Francisco, CA Treasure Island Music Festival (21)
Los Angeles, CA Greek Theater (22)
San Diego, CA SDSU Open Air Theater (24)
Santa Barbara, CA Santa Barbara Bowl (25)
Austin, TX Austin City Limits Festival (28)
Memphis, TN Cannon Center (29)
Nashville, TN Ryman Auditorium (30)
Atlanta, GA The Tabernacle (October 1)

According to the Stripes/Raconteurs' publicist, Billboard.com's account of the ensuing moments "is a bit off." Jack and Meg did take the stage together and appear as though they were going to play, but Meg never touched the drums, and Jack never introduced her. Instead, the rest of the Raconteurs turned up and Brendan Benson exclaimed, "Whoa whoa whoa! WRONG BAND!" as Meg "scurried off."
