Marcus Collins – finalist on last year's series of The X Factor – will release his cover of The White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army' as his debut single.

Released on March 4, the single will be released a week before his debut, self titled album on March 12. Of his cover of the 2003 single from The White Stripes, Collins has said: "I've always been a fan of the original version of 'Seven Nation Army' and hope people like my take on it. I’m so happy to be releasing my debut album. I've worked on my music every minute possible since I came out of the show and can’t wait for everyone to be able to hear it."

Take That member and The X Factor judge Gary Barlow is executive producer on the album, which will feature original songs as well as cover versions of 'Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher' by Jackie Wilson and 'Tightrope' by Janelle Monae.

Marcus Collins lost to Little Mix in the TV talent show final at the end of last year.
