The Who return to Liverpool

Rock legends The Who are to play Liverpool's Summer Pops festival.

The band play the 4000 seater big top on July 5 and 6, it’s the first time The Who have played the city in 35 years.

Frontman Roger Daltrey told local paper The Echo: "We can't wait to be back in Liverpool. Liverpool has such a great musical history. I can't believe it's been almost four decades since we played there.

"We're really looking forward to the show."

The band last played in the city at Liverpool University in October 1971.

As previously reported, The Who headline the T In The Park festival in Scotland on July 9. The event sold out in an hour on February 17.
