The Who to unveil plaque at Leeds University

The historic venue is honoured

The Who to unveil plaque at Leeds University

The Who are to unveil a civil trust blue plaque in honour of legendary concert venue Leeds University before they play ‘comeback’ show there this Saturday (June 17).

The plaque will commemorate the band's acclaimed performance at the venue on Valentine’s Day, 1970, when they recorded the classic ‘Live At Leeds’ album.

The plaque will also acknowledge the other acts who have visited over the years - the refectory became a major rock venue in the 1960s. The other acts who have played down the years include The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Radiohead and, most recently, Arctic Monkeys.
