The Who start working on new album
Pete Townshend hints the band may play festivals
The Who’s guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend has revealed the band are already working on a follow up to 2006’s 'Endless Wire'.
That record was the band's first studio album in 24 years, and many speculated it could be their last - however, the two remaining members of the original group have now spoken about their future plans.
Townshend explained: “Roger [Daltrey, singer] is working on his own idea for an album for us, with the producer T-Bone Burnett, who is an old friend of mine.”
Speaking in a blog on Thewho.com Townshend added: “I am hoping to come up with some songs for a more conventional Who record.”
After their headline slots at T In The Park (2006) and Glastonbury (2007), he also hinted the group may play some festival shows this summer, saying: “I would want to do that [play festivals] purely for fun, and I don't want to turn it into a big tour. I need to stay focused on my writing.”
