The Who's Roger Daltrey has recorded an album with former Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson.

The duo decided to work together after striking up a friendship in 2010. The album is titled 'Going Back Home' and features 10 Wilko Johnson original songs plus a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?'. The pair will perform a one-off live show in support of the album at London's Shepherds Bush Empire on February 25.

The album was recorded in the space of a week in November 2013, 10 months after Johnson was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The Guardian quotes Johnson stating: "Roger jumped up and said, 'Let’s do it.' He knew this lovely little studio called Yellow Fish in Uckfield. Unfortunate name for a place, but a great studio."

Speaking about the sound of the album, Johnson says the record has a "heavy power-trio sound, backing up a singer; it’s a British institution. No-one does that better than us."

Johnson, 65, played lead guitar with Dr Feelgood from the band's formation in 1971 until he left in 1977. During his stint, they scored a Number One album with their 1976 live LP 'Stupidity'. After departing, Johnson played with The Blockheads for a brief spell in 1980 and released a succession of albums with The Wilko Johnson Band. More recently he appeared as an actor in the hit HBO show Game Of Thrones. His autobiography Looking Back At Me was published in June 2012.
