The Wombats played a sun-drenched set on the Other Stage at Glastonbury this afternoon (June 28).

The band came on at 5pm (BST), sharing space with an enormous inflatable wombat in sunglasses. It was a high-tempo set, but two-thirds into the show frontman Matthew Murphy said sorry for his actions at previous visits to the Somerset festival.

After opening with a capella song 'Tales Of Girls, Boys And Marsupials' the band induced an early sing-along, holding back vocals and letting the busy crowd sing the chorus to 'Kill The Director'.

Despite the high octane start, the Liverpool band confessed that they were feeling a bit worse for wear.

"Does anyone else feel as rough as a bear's arse?" asked Murphy before playing 'Party In A Forest (Where's Laura?)'.

"Has anyone ever fallen in love with a prostitute?" he later asked, before playing 'Patricia The Stripper', garnering enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. "Most of you?" he replied.

Before playing 'Little Miss Pipe Dream', Murphy attempted to get the crowd even more loved-up, saying: "If anyone's trying to pull, now's the time to do it."

The frontman apologised to the crowd for his past behavior at Glastonbury. "Last year I ended up crawling into randoms' tents shouting, 'Dan? Where are you?'," he explained. "So sorry if that was any of you."

The Wombats ended their set with a frenetic rendition of 'Backfire At The Disco' after thanking the crowd, then headed off the stage to mass applause.
