The xx's Baria Qureshi has left the band and will not be replaced, band member Romy Madley Croft has revealed.
Guitarist/keyboard player Qureshi opted out of a recent gig at the London Village Underground and the band cancelled several European dates – now Croft has told NME.COM she will not be returning.
"Baria has left the band," she confirmed. "I guess 'personal differences' would be the standard way to say it. I guess it's just the intensity of being on tour, things are so much heightened."
Croft also confirmed that The xx would continue as a three-piece.
"Jamie [Smith, multi-instrumentalist] needs another few arms so he can work everything," she joked. "Everything's going to be completely live. It's going to mean a bit of brushing up on lead pedal manuals."
See the new issue of NME, out now, for the full interview with Croft.
