The xx have revealed that their "dream" is to write a song for Beyoncé.

The band had the opportunity to meet the singer and her husband Jay-Z at BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend in June (2012). However, Oliver Sim has now admitted that he was too nervous to tell Beyoncé what she means to him.

Recalling their time together, he told Q: "We all went for dinner. There may have been a husband of hers there. I always had a lot of things I wanted to say to her and I completely choked. Beyoncé is very special. I think the super-pop thing that supposedly died with Michael Jackson is still there, with her. I saw her at Glastonbury and I may have shed a tear."

However, Sim has not given up hope of collaborating with Beyoncé in the future. He continued: "Writing a song for her, that's the dream. The full Sasha Fierce. But I've no other ambition. I'm in my favourite band right now."

Last year (2011), Beyoncé's pop contemporary Rihanna sampled 'Intro' from The xx's debut album for her track 'Drunk On Love'. The xx are now preparing to release their second album, 'Coexist', on September 10 (2012).

To launch the LP, the band will play a trio of intimate UK shows next month (September). They will take to the stage at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on September 10, followed by gigs at The Coal Exchange in Cardiff on September 11 and Edinburgh's Usher Hall on September 12. They will also play Bestival on the Isle of Wight on September 7.
