Theaudience last night took the honours at the Schweppes EuroBaschhh 1998.

The contest's live finale, to find the best 'Alternative EuroVision Song Contest' entrant, took place at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Thaudience, tipped in January by NME when they took part in the annual NME BratBus Tour as part of the NME Brat Awards, beat competition from the likes of Sofa Surfers (Austria), Libido (Norway) and Belgium's Evil Superstars for the award.

The winner was selected with the help of internet users, who were able to vote for their favourite band on the EuroBaschhh website.
