Recording sessions from the likes of Thom Yorke, The White Stripes and PJ Harvey will be broadcast on TV from December 1.

‘From The Basement’ features live sessions by a variety of artists, recorded by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich.

Thom Yorke, who recorded a session for the show, praised the show, saying it is “exciting, because it came from the desire to cut out the crap that lies between the music and the viewer”.

The show, which originally appeared online, will broadcast weekly on the Sky Arts channel from December 1.

The line-up is:

The White Stripes, The Shins, Neil Hannon (December 1)
Thom Yorke, Albert Hammond Jr, Envelopes (8)
Beck, Jarvis Cocker, Jamie Lidell (15)
Sonic Youth, Jose Gonzalez, Laura Marling (22)
PJ Harvey, Super Furry Animals, Free Blood (29)
Damien Rice, Autolux, E of Eels, and Architecture In Helsinki (January 5)
