Tinie Tempah wins British Breakthrough Act gong at the Brits

'Frisky' rapper beats off likes of The xx and Mumford And Sons to claim gong

Tinie Tempah has been named British Breakthrough Act at the 2011 Brit Awards tonight (February 15).

The London rapper beat the likes of The xx, Ellie Goulding, Mumford and Sons and Rumer to scoop the award, which was presented by Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton.

Taking to the stage at London's O2 Arena to collect the gong, Tempah thanked Radio 1's listeners, who voted for the award.

"I got a Brit Award guys," he said. "I want to thank God and my family for sticking by me."

The other British Breakthrough Act nominees were:

Mumford & Sons
Rumer
The xx
