Tom Jones denies suffering heart scare

The Welsh crooner puts cancelled Monte Carlo gig down to dehydration

Tom Jones denies suffering heart scare
Tom Jones has issued a statement denying reports he suffered a heart scare.

The Welsh singer had been due to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday (August 27) evening, but was ordered not to sing by doctors due to severe dehydration. It had previously been reported Jones was rushed to hospital because of heart trouble.

The statement said:

This was extremely disappointing for Tom, the band and all connected with the tour. This was the last date of a very successful three-month tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat. There are NO heart problems, as has been reported in the press.

The statement goes on to offer apologies to fans, while explaining how disappointed Jones was not to be able to perform as planned, saying: "He thanks everyone for their understanding and support, and hopes to see the fans in Monte Carlo again soon."

Jones released his most recent album 'Praise And Blame' in July 2010, which peaked at No 2 in the UK album chart.
