TOM WAITS FOR NO MAN

Legendary singer/songwriter mooted to be working on three new projects...

TOM WAITS FOR NO MAN
Mystery surrounds the news that TOM WAITS is preparing three separate album projects for forthcoming release.

Despite reports on MTV.COM based on information said to come from his US label Epitaph, a spokesperson for the singer/songwriter in the UK said the Epitaph European wing were unaware of the rumours.

Most interestingly for Waits fans, he is said to have started writing songs for the follow-up to 1998's critically acclaimed 'Mule Variations', with a source claiming an intent to release the album by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, they also report that Waits has been working through demos in preparation for an album release of the songs he composed for 'Woyzeck' - a modern adaptation of Buchner's 19th century play which opened in Copenhagen last November. The play is set to tour Europe soon, though it is unclear at present if it will make it to the UK.

Finally, the hoary old legend is said to be assembling a collection of B sides and rarities, including soundtrack material never to have appeared on any of his solo works, for an album provisionally slated as 'The Orphans Project'.

Waits' UK spokesperson added this afternoon (January 26) that although Waits was continually working on new ideas, no projects had been set in concrete.
