Tori Amos previews new material at SXSW

Perez Hilton introduces the famous songstress

Tori Amos previewed several songs from her forthcoming album in front of an adoring crowd at South By Southwest tonight (March 19).

The singer was introduced by famous blogger Perez Hilton, who revealed that Amos' 1992 album 'Little Earthquakes' had rocked his world. He also announced that her latest full-length will be released in May.

Amos took to the stage at La Zona Rosa alone and spent her 45-minute set swapping between a grand piano and a keyboard. "Thanks for coming, it's great to see some familiar faces," she said.

The crowd cheered loudly for the new material, but reserved their most enthusiastic responses for old favourites including 'Crucify' and 'Silent All These Years'.

Amos explained the inspiration for one of her strongest and most humourous new songs, which she said was the story of a teenage boy who asks his mother if he can bring "Mary Jane" over for the weekend.

The show was Amos' only scheduled South By Southwest appearance.
