Towers Of London make triumphant return in Newcastle
Band introduce two new members
Towers Of London made a triumphant return in Newcastle last night (July 16), instantly dispelling any notions of a meltdown in Donny Tourette’s camp after two founder members spectacularly quit just five days prior to their UK tour.
The one-time ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star proceeded to perform a storming show at Newcastle's Academy 2 on the first night with the Towers’ new line-up.
Donny’s drinking buddies Christian Marr and Aaron Attwood acquitted themselves admirably as last minute replacements, after guitarist The Rev and drummer Snell left the band last week in what’s clearly an acrimonious split between the former friends.
Speaking to NME.COM after the gig, Donny said: “[Towers Of London] has never been about one man, never mind two. By pulling out, they fucked off a lot of people who cared about our band and I wasn¹t going to have it and neither was anyone else.”
Donny was on suitably ebullient form throughout, baiting the audience with praise for local football rivals Sunderland, leaping into the moshpit mid-opener and spending most of the set atop a speaker stack.
“They thought they could stop this tour happening,” the singer told the rapturous crowd, two fingers aloft, “but they can have some of that.”
