TRICKY: RELEASE THE PRE-MILLENNIUM TENSION

New album features [a]DJ Muggs[/a] from [a]Cypress Hill[/a]...

Tricky will release his new album, 'Juxtapose', on August 16 through Universal/Island and is also set to play three UK dates.

The follow-up to last year's 'Angels With Dirty Faces' was made with the help of producers DJ Muggs and Grease.

Muggs has previously worked with Cypress Hill, House Of Pain and Ice Cube, while Grease, who produced Mase's 1997 'Harlem World' album, is a member of the NY-based Ruff Ryders hip-hop collective.

A spokesman for Tricky told NME: "The general feeling about this album is that it's the best thing he's done since 'Maxinquaye' (Tricky's 1995 debut). It's the most accessible record since then."

Tricky has already debuted a new song, 'Slowly', on the soundtrack to the Ben Affleck and Sandra Bullock film Forces Of Nature, which is available now through Polydor.

'Juxtapose' will also feature guest vocals on two songs from singer-musician Bob Khaleel, formerly known as Bronx Style Bob.

The album was recorded at American Studios in Los Angeles and mixed at a studio in Miami.

Tricky now lives in New York and was recently spotted DJing at a Los Angeles nightclub with DJ Muggs, playing Wu-Tang Clan records back to back with the Spice Girls.

The two are said to have recorded a version of House Of Pain's 'Jump Around' for inclusion on the new album from Soul Assassins. It is not known when this will be released.

Tricky will play Bristol Victoria Rooms (July 19), Manchester University (20) and London WC2 Astoria (21).
