Tulisa 'hit a man in the eye' in VIP area of V Festival, court hears

Celebrity blogger Savvas Morgan claims that his eye swelled up following the incident last summer

Singer Tulisa Contostavlos "hit a man in the eye" in the VIP area of V Festival last year, a court has heard.

The pop star and former X Factor judge appeared in court yesterday (May 19) accused of assaulting a man at the event, which took place in Chelmsford, Essex last year. Celebrity blogger Savvas Morgan claims that his eye swelled up following the incident, which took place on August 18.

Tulisa Contostavlos is in Chelmsford Magistrates' court again today (May 21) and has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault by beating.

BBC News reports that prosecutor Matthew McNiff said Tulisa, "accused Mr Morgan of stalking her and swore at him". He added: "She saw the opportunity to hit him and hit him in the eye."

Morgan also spoke in court, telling the jury how Tulisa raised her fist in the air and was swinging her arms. He said: "Everyone was jumping around trying to get at me, there was a lot going on."

The blogger was eventually led out of the VIP area by security and claims he was told by a guard: "'There's one of you and 15 of them and we don't want to see you get hurt'."

Tulisa will also face trial in July for a separate legal case, after she was charged with playing a part in the supply of Class A drugs. She was arrested following tabloid newspaper reports that claimed she was involved in an £860 cocaine deal, but both her and her co-defendant Michael Coombs pleaded not guilty to charges.
