Actors Billie Piper and Laurence Fox have separated after eight years of marriage

The actors wed in 2007 and have two sons together

Actors Billie Piper and Laurence Fox have announced their separation after eight years of marriage.

A post on Fox’s Facebook page reads: “Laurence Fox and Billie Piper have separated. No third parties are involved. For the sake of our family we request and appeal for space and privacy at this time.”

Former pop singer Piper, 33, married Lewis actor Fox, 37, in 2007. They have two sons together, seven-year-old Winston James and three-year-old Eugene Pip.

Piper, most famous for her role as the Timelord’s assistant in Doctor Who, was previously married to Chris Evans from 2003 to 2007.

She currently stars in Sky Atlantic’s acclaimed horror series Penny Dreadful. During her earlier career as a pop singer she scored three Number Ones with ‘Because We Want To’, ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘Day And Night’. She last recorded music in 2000 and has consistently ruled out a return to the charts.

Meanwhile, Fox released his debut album ‘Holding Patterns’ last month (February), with the lead single ‘Headlong’ getting its first radio play on Evans’ BBC Radio 2 show.

Discussing his move from acting to music recently, Fox told NME: “I don’t expect anything. And also, it’s not shit, so I don’t really care. I mean, I didn’t really have a choice – I had to do it. And I’d much rather it was shite but I did it, than not doing it and regretting it later in life.”
