Fifteen new episodes will be made available simultaneously on the last Sunday in May
Arrested Development will return on the last Sunday in May, Netflix has announced.
Netflix has revived the cult US sitcom after a seven-year hiatus and will premiere 15 brand new episodes simultaneously. They’ll be available from 07.01am GMT on May 26.
Original cast members Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett and Michael Cera have all reprised their roles as members of the eccentric and dysfunctional Bluth clan. Meanwhile, guest stars confirmed for the new season include Kristen Wiig, Ben Stiller, Seth Rogen, Liza Minnelli, Isla Fisher and Mad Men‘s John Slattery, who is expected to appear in several episodes.
Earlier this year (2013), the show’s creator Mitch Hurwitz revealed that he wants to follow the new season with a full-length Arrested Development feature film. He said at the time: “This is the first act of what we would like to complete in a movie. These are episodes that set that up. One does not work without the other.”
Arrested Development was originally broadcast on US network Fox between 2003 and 2006. Despite being a critics’ favourite and winning six Emmy awards, the show was dropped after three seasons because of low ratings.
