'I am barely the sexiest man in my flat' says 'Sherlock' star

Benedict Cumberbatch has laughed off being recently voted the world’s sexiest man.

The Sherlock actor received twice the number of votes as his nearest rival David Beckham in the recent poll of readers of The Sun.

But now he has told the newspaper that while he finds the nod flattering, he does not consider himself to be sexy. He said: “I don’t know about being the sexiest man in the world. I am barely the sexiest man in my flat and I’m the only guy living there.

“It makes me laugh because I see all the faults – I have spent 35 years of my life with myself. But I am very flattered. I don’t know how else to take it but to be flattered and giggle.”

Cumberbatch was speaking after losing out to Appropriate Adult star Dominic West in the Best Actor category at the weekend’s Bafta TV Awards. He has recently been shooting Star Trek 2, in which he will play a villain. New episodes of Sherlock are expected to shoot in January.
