'Ghostbusters' star joins Idris Elba for Jon Favreau's Disney film
Bill Murray will voice Baloo in director Jon Favreau’s (Chef) Disney film The Jungle Book. The Ghostbusters star joins a starry cast including including Idris Elba (Pacific Rim) voicing Shere Khan and Scarlett Johansson (Avengers Assemble) voicing Kaa.
Bringing the CG characters to life, the film will also feature Lupita Nyongo’o (12 Years A Slave) as Raksha, Ben Kingsley (Sexy Beast) as Bagheera and showcase the vocal talents of Christopher Walken (Pulp Fiction) as King Louie. The film is due in cinemas October 9, 2015.
Murray made his name as a member of influential American comedy show Saturday Night Live, going on to star as paranormal investigator Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters, a weatherman caught in a time loop in Groundhog Day and a movie star in Lost in Translation.
Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is also preparing his own cinematic rendition of Rudyard Kipling’s famous story.
The Gollum star told the NME: “Puppeteering a digital avatar is something we’re trying to do at The Imaginarium, which is our performance-capture studio in Ealing where I’m also working on Animal Farm, The Jungle Book and the next Avengers movie.” Serkis says his film, being made for studio Warner Bros, will embrace the book’s dark side.
