Channel 5 slammed for airing “disgusting” ‘One Night With My Ex’ episode after launch of all-female ‘Celebrity Big Brother’

The channel has faced a backlash from viewers who branded the second season premiere "brutal" and "irresponsible"

Channel 5 have been criticised by viewers for the “brutal” second season premiere of One Night With My Ex – especially as it aired after the much-hyped launch of the first-ever all-female Celebrity Big Brother.

The show – which reunites former couples for one night to talk things over – attracted complaints last night (January 2) after its season premiere featured a man angrily confronting his ex-girlfriend after she disclosed that she’d been on a date since their split.

The former couple, Amy and Tom, were filmed in conversation about their relationship, with Tom at one point angrily telling Amy: “I think you fucked it… You need to think very carefully about what you’re gonna say next”, before he then stormed off set.

Many viewers took issue with the confrontation on social media, with some highlighting the particularly insensitive timing of the controversial episode as it aired just after the special launch of this year’s Celebrity Big Brother.

The reality show opened its doors to a first-ever all-female house to celebrate the Year of the Woman, marking 100 years since women won the right to vote in the UK.

Former Apprentice candidate and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Luisa Zissman led the condemnation of the One Night With My Ex episode, with Zissman showing concern for the well-being of Amy after the confrontation that aired on the show.
