"He’d be a perfect fit in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe," says actor
Actor Charlie Cox has said that he would love to see his character Daredevil join The Avengers.
Cox returns to screens today (March 18) as the second series of Daredevil arrives on Netflix. With 13 new episodes available for fans to binge on, Cox has pondered whether his character Matt Murdock could ever make the switch onto the big screen and join his Marvel stable mates in a future Avengers title.
“Some people have said that they wonder about, based on the tone the show, how Matt would fit in with the Avengers,” Cox said in an interview with ComicBook.com. “I was reading Civil War the other day, and Matt Murdock… is kind of an ass. He’s in the back, standing around grumpy a lot of the time, and every now and again, he just says ‘Well, we’re not doing that’ or something to that effect, and I’m like, ‘That’s the character, we’re fine.’ So tonally, with Matt I think we’re right on point and he’d be a perfect fit in the larger MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).”
Daredevil does appear alongside the Avengers in the comic books. As The Nerdist points out, Murdock was invoted to join the group as part of Brian Michael Bendis’ New Avengers reign, and years later, he accepted the offer and joined Luke Cage‘s team alongside Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man.
Cox’s co-stars Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll and Eddie Henson are all reprising their roles for S2 of Daredevil, which launched its first run on Netflix in April 2015 and quickly became one of the streaming service’s most popular shows.
The second season of Daredevil is the latest Netflix original series for Marvel following Jessica Jones and the upcoming Luke Cage and Iron Fist. This will culminate with all of the main characters teaming up in The Defenders
