Fox TV execs are reportedly considering giving Girls Aloud singer a second chance
Cheryl Cole could be set to return to the judging panel on the US X Factor after an apparent u-turn by the show’s bosses.
The Girls Aloud singer was axed from the panel and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger last month, with reports suggesting that contestants at early auditions were struggling to understand Cole‘s Geordie accent.
However, executives at Fox, which makes the show, are considering giving Cole another go after a change of heart, according to the Sunday Mirror.
A ‘source’ close to show supremo Simon Cowell told the newspaper: “We have offered Cheryl a second chance and she might still come back to US X Factor. Fox have been re-examining the situation and have had a change of heart.”
However, other ‘sources’ close to Cole have said that although talks have taken place, a return to the show is still a long way off.
Cole‘s hopes of returning as a judge on the UK version of the X Factor were dashed earlier this week when ITV confirmed N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos as the latest addition to the panel.
