Glenn Howerton responds to co-star’s claim that Dennis will return to ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’

Is Dennis making a comeback?

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton has responded to his co-star Kaitlin Olson’s claim that Dennis Reynolds will return to the beloved sitcom after his fate was left uncertain in Season 12.

As the season drew to a close, Dennis shocked both viewers and the other regulars of Paddy’s Pub by announcing that he’d be leaving the gang in order to spend more time with the child that he never realised he had fathered.

But after months of speculation about the future of everyone’s favourite TV psychopath, it seems that Glenn Howerton is definitely returning to portray Dennis once more.

In a new interview with The Wrap, Sweet Dee actress Kaitlin Olson confirmed that Dennis will return for “some episodes”.

“I do know that Glenn Howerton is coming back for some episodes”, Olson said. “I don’t know the specifics, but I do know how he’s being introduced back in and it’s absolutely hilarious”.

Howerton has since responded on Twitter, saying: “Sorry, guys but, that stupid dumb flightless bird doesn’t know what she’s saying. Dennis is NOT confirmed for season 13. We are writing now. Stay tuned.”

He added: “Apparently some bird has been going around squawking about Dennis being confirmed for season 13. We don’t have a bird on our writing staff. Birds don’t know anything.”

Howerton appears to be making reference to a running joke on Always Sunny where Olson’s character Dee is repeatedly called a “bird”.

Despite speculation that his busy schedule on new show A.P Bio could prevent a return, Howerton previously admitted he was still hoping for a return.

“We’re currently discussing what we want to do next season [of It’s Always Sunny], but we haven’t started the writers’ room yet”, he admitted in January.

“So I haven’t left It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The conversation really should be about what’s going to happen with Dennis, not what’s going to happen with me, and that’s something we don’t have an answer to yet.”
