The one-off programme, which will air on Christmas Day, will see Peter Capaldi in his final appearance as the Doctor

The Doctor Who Christmas special will be screened first in multiple venues in the north of England ahead of its BBC premiere on Christmas Day.

The special will see Peter Capaldi in his final appearance as the Doctor before he hands over the reins to Jodie Whittaker – who will be the 13th Doctor.

Ahead of its premiere on BBC One on December 25, the Doctor Who Christmas special will be shown on big screens in venues across the north as part of the BBC’s preview of its Christmas Day schedule. The likes of Hartlepool, York, Manchester and Bradford are among the places that will be treated to the special preview screenings.
