‘Doctor Who’ debuts series seven trailer – video

Catch a glimpse of Amy and Rory's final adventures on NME.COM

The first trailer for the new series of Doctor Who has been unveiled

Footage from the seventh revived series of the science-fiction classic was debuted at the show’s Official Convention, which took place in Cardiff over the weekend.

The trailer is largely taken from the wild west themed episode, which was written by Toby Whithouse and filmed on location in Spain. But there is also a teasing glimpse of a Dalek eye-stalk emerging through snow, fuelling speculation that the show’s most iconic villains will be returning.

As has been confirmed, the trailer sees Matt Smith‘s 11th Doctor reunited with companions Amy and Rory, played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. But they will both depart in the fifth episode of the series. Their exit will see a final encounter with the Weeping Angels, and will be filmed in New York.

Of the pair’s exit, showrunner Steven Moffat has teased: “Not everybody gets out alive – and I mean it this time!”

Jenna-Louise Coleman will then make her debut as the new companion at Christmas. The remaining eight episodes of the series will then air in early 2013.
