Pair were nearly booked for a public boxing match

Elijah Wood has described how he almost ended up fighting Daniel Radcliffe over the pair looking similar.

Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in Lord Of The Rings, appeared on US TV’s Conan this week where he revealed that he often gets mistaken for Radcliffe, best known for playing Harry Potter.

“I go to this film festival every year called Fantastic Fest, and they do this thing called the Fantastic Debates, which is effectively two people in a boxing ring, as it turns out, debating a topic,” Wood explained.

“Each person debates the topic, then they have a rebuttal, and then they actually box. A proper debate, then it’s fisticuffs.”

Wood went on to reveal how he and Radcliffe were almost booked for the event this year but that he “ultimately squashed it”.

“I was like, I don’t want to fight this guy. I don’t want the culmination of the fact that we look alike or somehow get mistaken for each other to end up in a boxing ring.”

Radcliffe had previously addressed the similarities, telling Marc Maron on his WTF podcast in 2015: “We’re both kind of short guys with big blue eyes and brown hair, and we did fantasy movies that came out at the same time. I’m thinking of trying to write some sort of mistaken identity thing where one of us kills the other.”
