Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's meta hero comedy
Former Batman actor Michael Keaton riffs on his hero past in the new trailer for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s meta-comedy Birdman.
With his career on an upward trajectory following scene-stealing roles in Need for Speed and Robocop, Tim Burton’s Batman Keaton is also in talks for a follow-up to his other career defining role, Beetlejuice.
“Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance is a black comedy that tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton) – famous for portraying an iconic superhero – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play.
In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.”
Inarritu previously directed 21 Grams, Babel and Amores Perros. Also starring Emma Stone (The Amazing Spiderman), Edward Norton (Fight Club), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Andrea Riseborough (Brighton Rock) and Naomi Watts (The Impossible), Birdman>/em> will open the Venice Film Festival and hits UK cinemas January 2nd 2015.
