‘Friends’ cast reunite in first trailer for James Burrows tribute special – watch

Matthew Perry was not involved due to prior commitments

The first clip of a reunited Friends cast has been revealed.

The trailer for An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows was revealed overnight. The tribute to James Burrows will air on February 21 and features cast members from Cheers, Taxi, Frasier and Will & Grace gathering to honour the director and producer.

Special attention has been paid to the Friends cast’s involvement, with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer appearing together for the first time since the show ended in 2004.

Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing in the comedy series, was unable to attend due to stage work in London so has recorded an introduction for the other cast members. He has written a play called The End Of Longing, which is showing at London’s Playhouse Theatre throughout February.

In the clip, host Andy Cohen asks the actors whether they signed contracts to ensure they did not sleep with one another while making the show. An uncomforable looking Kudrow jokes to Schwimmer: “David, say something!”

Burrows directed 15 episodes of Friends as well as working on Will and Grace, Mike and Molly, Frasier, and Cheers which he co-created.

Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman ruled out a reunion during a 2015 interview, saying it would “never happen” and that fans had to “let it go”.
