Homer Simpson to answer fan questions in ‘The Simpsons’ live episode

The partially live episode will air on May 15 on Fox

The Simpsons has announced plans for a partially live episode.

For the final three minutes of the show’s May 15 episode on Fox, Homer Simpson – voiced by Dan Castellaneta – will discuss a range of topical issues and answer questions from fans.

Showrunner Al Jean told The Hollywood Reporter that motion capture technology will be used to enable Homer to discuss issues that he “could only be saying live on that day”.

“As far as I know, this is the first time that’s been done by any animated show,” Jean added. “And Dan [Castellaneta] is a great improviser.”

Fans can tweet their questions for Homer by using the hashtag #HomerLive from May 1 until May 4.

Meanwhile, it has recently been reported that The Simpsons‘ creator Matt Groening is working on a new animated series for Netflix. The streaming giant is rumoured to have commissioned two 10-episode seasons of the show, whose title and subject matter are currently unknown.

The Simpsons is now midway through its 27th season on Fox. The network has already ordered a 28th season to air in 2016-2017, which will take the show’s episode count well over the 600 mark.
