Dane played security guard Hank on the American adaptation of the sitcom, while he also appeared in 'Friends' and 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'
Hugh Dane, who starred in such shows as the US version of The Office and Friends, has died at the age of 75.
Dane was best known for his role as Hank the security guard on The Office, which aired from 2005 to 2013. His co-star Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute on the show, paid tribute to the actor with a post on Twitter last night (June 4).
The Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center initially confirmed Dane’s passing with a post on their Facebook page on May 26, which disclosed that he had died on May 16. The news only gained traction yesterday when Dane’s Office co-stars began to pay tribute to the actor.
A memorial service for Dane will be held this Saturday (June 9) in Los Angeles. His loved ones are asking for donations to be made to the Inner City Cultural Center in lieu of flowers.
Dane also had roles on such iconic shows as Friends and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air during his career, which also saw him land minor parts in such films as Bridesmaids and Ricochet.
The Office star Steve Carell joined in the tributes to Dane, remarking that the late actor was “a terrific guy”. Mindy Kaling praised Dane as “one of the funniest actors ever”. See their tweets below.
