Watch Jack Whitehall get rubbish thrown at him while hosting BRIT Awards

After being stood up by Foo Fighters

Jack Whitehall hosted the BRIT Awards last night (February 22) and appeared to get rubbish thrown at him at one point.

It was Whitehall’s first time hosting the ceremony, which has seen the likes of Ant & Dec, Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis and James Corden host in recent years.

Whitehall opened the show by parodying ‘Man’s Not Hot’ with Big Shaq.

Later, Whitehall was meant to interview the Foo Fighters – who won Best International Group and performed on the night – but they were nowhere to be seen.

While announcing that they would instead go to ad break, Whitehall was hit by what seemed to be rubbish thrown by a fan. See that moment in the clip below.

Whitehall’s hosting duties were generally well-received. Previous host James Corden paid tribute to Whitehall, tweeting that Whitehall did a “wonderful job” and was “completely brilliant”.

Whitehall himself later tweeted that he “fully expected to get butchered for that”, adding: “Thank you so much for all your lovely tweets.”

The 38th BRIT Awards were held at London’s O2 Arena last night (February 21). Stormzy and Dua Lipa taking home big awards on the night. See the full winners list here.

Stormzy won British Male Solo Artist and Best British Album, as well as delivering a triumphant closing performance.

Dua Lipa, meanwhile, took home Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Presented her first award by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Kylie Minogue, Lipa said during her acceptance speech: “I want to thank every single female that has been on this stage before me and has given girls like me a place to be inspired by and [someone to] look up to and allow us to dream. Here’s to more women on these stages, winning these awards and taking over the world.”
