Celebrities and comedians will hurl insults at the actor during a Comedy Central Roast
James Franco is to follow in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson and Charlie Sheen by becoming the victim of a Comedy Central Roast.
The actor broke the news in an Instagram video clip posted yesterday (July 10). “Hey y’all what’s up? I’m gonna get roasted on Comedy Central. Be sure to check it out,” Franco teased. “They wanted me to tell you that.”
During the Comedy Central Roast Of James Franco, the actor will be subjected to a torrent of comic put-downs by sharp-tongued celebrities and comedians, before getting a chance to answer back at the end. Previous celebrity “roastees” have included Joan Rivers, William Shatner and David Hasselhoff as well as Anderson and Sheen.
Franco’s roast will be filmed next month (August) with the names of the famous “roasters” yet to be announced. The 90-minute take-down will then be broadcast on Comedy Central, a popular US cable network, on September 2.
“If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we’ll just have to make do,” said Comedy Central’s Kent Alterman in a statement.
