Jack Sparrow star plays "debonair art dealer and part-time rogue"
Johnny Depp stars as gentleman spy and all round rapscallion Charlie Mortdecai in the first trailer for the globetrotting comedy caper.
The star of Pirates of the Caribbean does plenty of his signature grandstanding in the teaser trailer released online that echoes the slapstick tomfoolery of Peter Sellers’ Pink Panther films.
David Koepp directed Depp in Stephen King adaption Secret Window and the synopsis for their latest film together reveals a kooky plot:
“Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.”
Also starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Jeff Goldblum and Paul Bettany, Mortdecai is released in cinemas January 30th 2015
