Frat-rock kings Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone will star in comedy
Judd Appatow is set to produce a Lonely Island movie for studio Universal. Spoof rap trio Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone will star in a comedy set in the music business.
Samberg previously appeared in 2007 big screen comedy Hot Rod (directed by Schaffer) and is currently making HBO sports mockumentary 7 Days in Hell, set in the world of tennis.
Deadline reports that Appatow (40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) will hand directing duties to Schaffer and Taccone. The pair previously worked together on Saturday Night Live shorts while Taccone also directed SNL big screen spin-off MacGruber.
Appatow is currently shooting the comedy Trainwreck. Due in cinemas next year the film will star Bill Hader and Amy Schumer as “a commitment-averse woman trying to get past her self-sabotaging ways”.
Lonely Island found success with spoof tracks ‘Dick in a Box’, ‘Lazy Sunday’ and ‘Jizz in my Pants’ collaborating with the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Akon.
