Kiss my face! Alan Partridge’s PA Lynn to return for new BBC Series

Very reliable, but she's got a moustache....

Steve Coogan has confirmed that Felicity Montagu will reprise the role of Alan Partridge’s long-suffering assistant Lynn Benfield for his anticipated return to the BBC.

Montagu initially played the role of Lynn in two series of I’m Alan Partridge between 1997 and 2002, before reprising the role for 2013’s Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

Last week, it was revealed that Partridge’s return to the BBC will see him being handed a “career lifeline” after he becomes the temporary host of This Time, an evening magazine show that sounds suspiciously like The One Show.

“This Time is the perfect shop window for a man of Alan’s gravitas and will, or should, see him finally recognised as one of the heavyweight broadcasters of his era”, the BBC confirmed.

“The show itself is a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth; very much the sweet spots for a man whose CV boasts over two decades of weekday local radio.

“And with an array of diverse subjects on the agenda, it promises the perfect fit for a man whose broadcasting style has been described as ‘equidistant between chitchat and analysis.”

Along with the return of Montagu, Tim Key reprises the role of Simon ‘formerly sidekick’ Denton and Susannah Fielding makes her debut as Alan’s co-host Jennie Gresham.

Alan’s return to the BBC was first announced last year, with Coogan claiming that he would become the “voice of Brexit”.
