‘Making A Murderer’ producers will have to recreate Brendan Dassey’s release for documentary sequel

No film crew was present when his conviction was overturned

Producers of Making A Murderer are reportedly looking to recreate the moment Brendan Dassey‘s conviction was overturned.

A sequel to the hit true crime series is currently in the works, but the film crew missed a pivotal moment in the story yesterday (August 12), when Dassey’s life sentence was quashed.

A federal judge in Milwaukee ruled that Dassey had been wrongfully convicted and should be released, but had not given either Netflix staff or Dassey’s family advance notice of their decision, as TMZ reports.

Members of the man’s immediate family were also not present in court, as they were visiting relatives in Michigan.

Dassey, now 26, was convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach in 2005 along with his uncle Steven Avery. In 2007, Dassey was sentenced to life in prison with no parole.
