Elaine May also cast in director's Amazon Prime project
Miley Cyrus has been cast in Woody Allen’s upcoming TV series.
The as-yet-untitled series will air on Amazon Prime and is set in the 1960s. Shooting on the six half-hour episodes begins in March with Deadline reporting that Allen has cast Cyrus in one of the lead roles. She will be joined by Elaine May, who previously worked with Allen on 2000 film Small Time Crooks
“Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honour to be working with him on his first television series,” said Roy Price, Vice President of Amazon Studios, in a 2015 press statement announcinf their deal with the director.
Allen added in the press statement: “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.”
Allen’s most recent film, Magic in the Moonlight, came out last year in 2014 with the director has enjoyed something of a resurgence in recent years with hits including Blue Jasmine, Midnight in Paris and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
