Neil Patrick Harris joins ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’

Former 'How I Met Your Mother' actor will appear alongside his husband David Burtka

Neil Patrick Harris will appear in the current season of American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Harris will star in the show, which airs in Britain on Fox and on FX in the US, alongside his husband David Burtka. The news of both actors casting was confirmed today (October 30) by E! with the pair set appear toward the end of the series.

Harris previously expressed his desire to appear in Ryan Murphy’s hit series during an interview in July. “I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn’t even available to be in it… I just love those series and Coven was fantastic… to do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch,” he said at the time.

In addition to Harris and Burtka, it as also been confirmed that Lily Rabe will return to the series as Sister Mary Eunice. Rabe was last seen in second series, American Horror Story: Asylum

It was recently confirmed that Neil Patrick Harris will host the Academy Awards in 2015. The former How I Met Your Mother actor will host the 87th Oscars ceremony on February 22.
